THE Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested one Wale Lawal who was in possession of fake currencies in the value of N8.9 million in Lafia, the state capital.
State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Sadiq Bello, alleged that the suspect belonged to a syndicate that specialised in distributing counterfeit currency across the country.
He explained that the suspect was arrested in a hotel in Bukan Sidi while trying to distribute the money.
The Commissioner, said the suspect would be arraigned in court for prosecution and warned those involved in such acts to desist from it.

If they want to take a picture with me, I would oblige them but there would be nothing beyond that. To be honest, it is not easy because any new level in a person’s life attracts more attention from the female folk. People would want to be associated with you but it is left to you to stay grounded and know what is good for you. Once you have a focus, all these things would be mere distraction.”
When asked about his worst fear in life, the singer said that he had only one and that it is for him never to be complacent in life.
“I have the fear of going back to where I came from; I aspire to be greater everyday. I am never contented with any achievement and there is no time to be complacent. Above all, everything that I am today has to do with God. I would not want to over-emphasise the fact that I came from nothing and I am heading somewhere. I was just like every other person back then when I was in UNILAG hustling. I had to pay people money to perform. I sold my bed space to get money to record in the studio and there were so many people that laughed at me because they did not believe I would get to my desired destination in life. People did things to me that were hurtful enough to make me feel discouraged but I tried to pull through. I sold wristwatches at a point to make more money,” he said

Kidnapper Evans’ Lawyer Loses Court Case, To Pay N500,000 Fine

The lawyer standing for kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, has lost yet another case in court.
Evans’ counsel, Olukoya Ogungbeje, was defeated on Friday, when Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed two fundamental rights applications filed by him, PUNCH Newspaper quoted an online medium,
NewsMakers.
Ogungbeje had reportedly filed the case on behalf of his clients, Messrs Chief Kenneth Chukwuemeka Ajoku and Chidinma Ozurumba, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, but it was dismissed for lack of merit and for being frivolous.

The judge also awarded a total cost of N500,000 against the two petitioners.
Other respondents in Ajoku’s suit are a Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Taiwo Kupolati, Folorunsho Sholanke, Jide Olaleye, Abraham Ogunleye, Kolade Akinwunmi and Dr. Ishaku Danladi Msheliza.
Delivering judgment on the two applications on Friday, Justice Buba, while dismissing the two applications for lacking in merit and being frivolous, awarded a total cost of N500,000 against the two applicants in favour of the EFCC and other respondents.

Former Spice Girls star, Mel B, 42, and her estranged husband have been involved in legal battles since their separation in March, with Belafonte demanding an exorbitant amount of money in maintenance and spousal support. They are also battling for custody of their child.
Mel's financial situation was laid bare in the courts this past week. She attended court in Los Angeles on Friday for the first time and it was revealed that there was next to nothing left of her multi-million pounds fortune due to her "extravagant" lifestyle. The court heard that Mel has only £961 left in one of her company accounts.
A source told the Mirror: "Mel is an international superstar, still working as a judge on America’s Got Talent, but she only has a small amount of money in the bank, according to Companies House. People may be very surprised."
Mel also owns 20% of Spice Girls Limited which held £109,987 as of August 31, 2016 while her former bandmates own the rest. She also owns 16% of Octopus Direct along with the other Spice Girls and music mogul Simon Fuller.
Mel B and Belafonte both have outstanding tax debts after living exorbitant lifestyles, Los Angeles Superior Court was told. Belafonte claims he has zero income and is asking for backdated wages of around £90,000, an estimated £1,729 in perks, around £54,000 in spousal support and more than £150,000 to pay for his ongoing legal costs. His lawyer, Grace Jamra, asked Judge Lawrence Riff to order the sale of their Los Angeles home if necessary. It is currently on the market for just over £6 million.
Grace Jamra said: "Their lifestyle was extravagant and affluent. She wiped out all her Spice Girls money, approximately $50 million (£38 million) if not more."

Jacalyn Davis, representing Mel, spoke of the couple's tax problems and disclosed that they never had money at the end of the year to pay their taxes because they spent ore than they were earning. As Judge Riff concluded the spousal support hearing, he told the former couple he was "sorry they engaged in such a rancorous fight" . He postponed his decision on whether Stephen will be granted a total of $118,000 (£90,000) in spousal support - backdated to March. Judge Riff's decision will be made known on Wednesday.
The court hearing had been a bad-tempered one and neither Mel nor Belafonte spoke all through the lengthy hearing. They also declined to comment afterwards. Mel B and Stephen Belafonte's lawyers will return to LA's Stanley Mosk courthouse on Wednesday to collect an order detailing the judge's decision.
